The Death Valley Burn wasted an inspired, 7.1-inning effort from starter António Mireles, falling 2-1 to the Crab Apple Cove Mashers at Vargas Field. Crab Apple Cove currently is in 4th place in the Frontier Southern at 66-89.

One of the key players for the Mashers was catcher Mark Shaffer, who drilled a double in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, Shaffer went 1-3 with a double.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Shaffer told a Crab Apple Cove Today reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
