The Michigan Militia got a stellar performance from pitcher Riku Mainila, who handcuffed the Newark offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Assembly Line Grounds. Mainila, the winner, moves to 11-9. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up no walks. With the win, Michigan pushed its record to 79-76.

The Militia got an important contribution from shortstop Tommy Sheffield, who in the bottom of the second punched a 1-2 fastball into left-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 5th triple of the season and put the Militia ahead, 2-0.

"I got in a good groove," said Mainila. "I was getting some swings and misses."
