The Vermont Lake Monsters bested the West Island Storm, 6-5, at Welsh Field. Mario Amézaga was one of the standouts. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Reliever John Hill picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Juan Marino took the loss. The Lake Monsters, now 12-4, have been on fire in the early going.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Vermont left fielder Justin Baker, facing Juan Marino, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Lake Monsters the 6-5 win.

"This place was rocking at the end," Baker said.
