With 4-3 Win, Militia Improve to 80-76
|
Michigan designated hitter Tom Brown played a vital role in his team's 4-3 triumph over Newark. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Michigan. Michigan reliever José Martínez picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Leo Porter was saddled with the loss. Lane Davis closed the game out for Michigan, earning his 27th save.
Brown contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Michigan in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 2-1, Brown took a fastball from Leo Porter and stroked the home run to right. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Militia to leap in front, 3-2.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Newark manager Corbin Vance. "The effort was great."
The win lifted the Michigan record to 80-76.
