The exploits of first baseman Allan Schneider, who is on pace for 107 RBI this season, helped the Philadelphia Cheesesteaks defeat the Mexico City Diablos, 6-2. Schneider was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. The win belonged to Juan Carlos Rivera in relief. His record improves to 7-6. Lúcio Flores took the loss for Mexico City. Philadelphia is now 75-82, Mexico City 63-94.
Artie Martin came through for Philadelphia when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike sinker to left field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Martin told the Philadelphia Herald.
