Ice Pirates Lose to Mashers in Walk-Off
|
Starting pitcher Erik Courtney gave the Crab Apple Cove Mashers a rock-solid effort. The Pasadena, Texas native helped his team defeat the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates, 2-1, at Vargas Field. Crab Apple Cove reliever David Flint was the winner. His record is now 5-3. The losing pitcher was Iván Ruíz. Crab Apple Cove goes to 105-54. The win puts them 17½ games up in their division.
José Colón was the walk-off hero for Crab Apple Cove. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mashers left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Erik went out and did what we needed," said Crab Apple Cove manager .
