Ridge Raptors Raise Rally Flag, Beat Reading, 3-1
|
The Redstone Ridge Raptors took Reading pitcher Mark Lewis's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Schuylkill Landing Park. The final score had Redstone getting past the Railbirds, 3-1. Lewis went 7 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 6. The winner in relief was Morgan Chapman. He is now 3-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Victor Jones collected save number 35.
Redstone used a timely hit from Rod Malone to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ridge Raptors ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Malone said.
The Ridge Raptors, at 87-73, have now won 4 straight.
