The Keg Creek Coyotes defeated the Newark Falcons, 4-0, in Appalachian action at Falcons Field. Keg Creek pitcher José Rey had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Rey, now 4-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The Coyotes now own a record of 76-84.
José Velásquez, who is tied for 10th in the AP in doubles with 38, had a direct impact on the outcome. Velásquez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Keg Creek up, 1-0.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Velásquez told the Keg Creek Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."
