Lake Monsters Earn Late 6-5 Win
|
Amarillo catcher Royce MacGreusich had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. MacGreusich was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, even as Vermont beat the Chicken Haulers, 6-5. The winner in relief was Alfredo Villanueva. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. Amarillo, with the loss, is 7-9.
Vermont used the timely hitting of Earl Callahan to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Vermont manager Kevin Tucker applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
