Philadelphia Spoils Terrific Game by Adkins
The Philadelphia Cheesesteaks got a superb performance from center fielder Brian Adkins. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Reading. The Railbirds won the game, 8-7. Adkins was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Reading reliever Connor Kelloway got the win, raising his record to 16-6. Vincent Dickey was tagged with the loss. Reading has now won 4 straight, while the Cheesesteaks have lost 3 in a row.

Reading used the timely hitting of Fernando Batista to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Railbirds on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Slam Dunks.
