The Keg Creek Coyotes defeated the Minneapolis Maulers, 5-4, in Appalachian action at Coyote Den Stadium. Keg Creek pitcher Tad Hughes had a standout performance. Ángel García earned the save, his 38th, for the Coyotes. The Coyotes, at 81-81, inhabit second place in the Appalachian Northern.

Had Curt Blanchard not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Blanchard hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Coyotes.

"Both teams played hard," said Keg Creek manager James DaBears.
