No one was more impactful than Raúl Vargas in the 8-3 Glacier Bay win over Redstone. Vargas, who finished 4th in the FR in stolen bases with 34 last year, went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Glacier Bay pitcher Dave Kennedy earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Greg Canseco suffered the loss. The save went to Wally Campbell, his 1st this season.

The Ridge Raptors had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Ice Pirates going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old center fielder Mike Wood came to the plate. Wood hit a grand slam home run on a 2-1 changeup from Redstone hurler Greg Canseco. It was Wood's 1st home run of the year.

Vargas attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
