Border Jumpers Win at Glacier Bay, 5-1
|
The Laredo Border Jumpers beat the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates, 5-1, at Liquor Luge. The win was due in part to third baseman Wilson Ransom, who went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Laredo reliever Edmund Martin got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Charles Swanson was tagged with the loss. Glacier Bay is 12-7 after the loss.
Ransom had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-2 fastball from Mark Cunningham, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Border Jumpers a 5-1 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Ransom.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ransom.
