Storm Knock Off Orlando, 5-3
|
The West Island Storm defeated the Orlando Rum Runners, 5-3, in Appalachian action at Krono Field. West Island pitcher Tad Hughes had a standout performance. Juan Marino picked up the save, his 4th. The win brings the Storm to 12-7, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Had Sergio López not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, López hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Storm.
"Tad -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Storm manager . "He was the key to us winning."
