Diablos Rally to Tally 5-3 Win
|
The Mexico City Diablos topped the Reading Railbirds, 5-3, with right fielder Bill Hayes playing a big role. Hayes went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI for the Diablos in the win. John Alexander snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 7 hits over 6.1 innings. He's now 3-0 on the season. The Railbirds, now 6-12, continue their slow start.
Hayes had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Diablos went on to win.
Hayes attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
