The Diablos earned a hard-fought, 6-2 win in 11 innings at Vargas Field. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Crab Apple Cove pitcher Randolph Fix. Fix went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Mexico City goes to 2-1 with the win.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Edgardo Meza? The 23-year old second baseman Meza stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the 11th inning to put Mexico City up, 5-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We just never give in," said Meza. "We think we've got an opportunity as long as we have an at-bat and some outs left."
