Lake Monsters Come Up Short at Amarillo, 2-1
Behind an impressive start by Alfredo Villarreal, Amarillo beat Vermont, 2-1. Villarreal got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 2 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Villarreal allowed 1 run. Losses have been few and far between for the Lake Monsters so far this season. Their record drops to 15-6.

In the bottom of the sixth, Amarillo catcher Alberto Cruz put his team on top. With two out and a runner on 1st, he hit his 5th home run of the year. Vermont pitcher Hsu Kau served it up. Just like that, the Chicken Haulers were ahead, 2-1.

Cruz called the win "a team effort."
