Falcons Best Maulers in Pitching Duel
Newark and Minneapolis duked it out and the Falcons came out victorious.

The Newark Falcons went home winners at Falcons Field, thanks in large part to starter Kunitaro Watanabe. Watanabe stifled the Minneapolis Maulers, enabling Newark to grab the 2-0 win. Watanabe, now 4-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no runs.

The Falcons got a big at-bat from second baseman Robby Nix. For the game, Nix went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Newark a 1-0 lead.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Nix said.

The Falcons, now 13-6, have been red hot.
