Border Jumpers Absorb 5-4 Loss at Vargas Field
The Crab Apple Cove Mashers did just enough to sneak past the Laredo Border Jumpers, 5-4, at Vargas Field. Crab Apple Cove pitcher Rob Heath, in particular, had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Heath, now 2-2. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. The Border Jumpers fall to 8-12 and continue their lackluster start to the 2075 season.

Crab Apple Cove first baseman Ed Rebow contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a forkball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and put the Mashers ahead, 5-0.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Heath. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
