Monuments Suffer 5-1 Home Loss
|
The Washington Monuments could not turn a fine performance from pitcher José Féliz into a win. Instead, the Michigan Militia prevailed, 5-1. Féliz threw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs. The win was credited to Thomas Toone in relief. His record improves to 2-1. José Féliz took the loss. Pedro Muñóz recorded the save, his 1st.
Michigan catcher Mark Shaffer contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 18th hit of the season and put the Militia ahead, 3-1.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Shaffer told the Michigan Bulletin.
The win gives Michigan a record of 12-12.
