Laredo picked up a win at BackWet Stadium, bumping off the Alcatraz Island Jail Break, 4-2. Pitcher Jon Gilmore was a major reason the Border Jumpers emerged victorious. In 7.2 innings, Gilmore surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. After losing, Alcatraz Island is 14-11.

The Jail Break had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Border Jumpers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old shortstop Ryan Martínez came to the plate. Martínez hit a solo home run on a full count slider from Alcatraz Island hurler Greg Payne. It was Martínez's 1st home run of the year.
