Ridge Raptors Knock Off Reading, 5-1
|
The Redstone Ridge Raptors handed the Reading Railbirds a 5-1 defeat at Schuylkill Landing Park. Catcher David Wilkerson starred for Redstone. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tom Brown earned the win for Redstone. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 4-1. Victor Jones was credited with the save for Redstone, his 8th of the season.
In the top of the third, Wilkerson had a 2-run home run for Redstone. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Ridge Raptors on top, 2-0.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Slam Dunks.
The Ridge Raptors, now 17-8, have played some good baseball in the early going.
