Maulers Drop Launch, 4-3
|
The Minneapolis Maulers did just enough to sneak past the Cape Canaveral Launch, 4-3, at Launch Pad. Minneapolis pitcher Joe Moon, in particular, had a standout performance. Moon, now 1-3, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Greg Douglas sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Dan O'Gill? The Minneapolis catcher had a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Maulers on top, 4-1. For the game, O'Gill had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Minneapolis manager Spoof Smith.
The loss drops the Launch to 12-14.
