Crop Circles Lose Contest, 11-5
Behind the bravura of designated hitter Manuel Vega, the Philadelphia Cheesesteaks topped the Iowa Crop Circles by the score of 11-5. Vega was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Cheesesteaks. Juan Carlos Rivera, now 3-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Iowa, with the loss, is 12-13.

Bill Fletcher had a big 2-run double for the Cheesesteaks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Philadelphia trailing 4-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Luis Santiago Jr., who finished 4th in the FR in strikeouts with 228 in 2065, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cheesesteaks ahead, 5-4.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Fletcher told the Philadelphia Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
