At Welsh Field, the Michigan Militia and Vermont Lake Monsters were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Vermont Lake Monsters beat the Michigan Militia by a score of 6-2. Vermont third baseman Lawrence Smith deserved the lion's share of the credit. Smith was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Lake Monsters. With the loss, Michigan is 13-14.

Graham McCoy was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk for Vermont. The two-time Diamond Hammer Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Matt Barraclough. It was his 30th hit of the season.

Vermont manager Kevin Tucker was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
