Chicken Haulers Trip Diablos, 6-4, in Extra Innings
|
The Amarillo Chicken Haulers and Mexico City Diablos put on quite a show.
The Mexico City Diablos got a superb performance from pitcher Stan Webb. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Amarillo. The Chicken Haulers won the game, 6-4. Webb threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner in relief was Júlio Reyes. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.
Amarillo used a timely hit from Manuel Costa to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Chicken Haulers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Costa.
Amarillo is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 11th win in 29 games.
