Monuments 4-2 Winners Versus Crab Apple Cove
|
The Washington Monuments got a stellar performance from pitcher Arturo Báez, who handcuffed the Crab Apple Cove offense en route to a win, 4-2, at The Grand Lodge. António Rocha, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2067 draft, picked up the win in relief. Ernesto Amézaga took the loss for Crab Apple Cove. Glenn León wrapped it up, recording his 12th save.
Gilberto Amador went 1-3 for Washington. The reigning Diamond Hammer Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ernesto Amézaga. It was his 16th RBI of the season.
Amador attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
Washington is now 19-14, while Crab Apple Cove is 21-13.
