Havana designated hitter Phil O'Day was a significant contributor in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Laredo Border Jumpers. He went 2-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Comrades. Tom Miller snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Laredo is 0-3 after the defeat.
Havana used a clutch at-bat from Mario Sánchez to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Comrades ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said O'Day.
