Revolution Come Up Short at Richmond, 5-4
|
Richmond Ravens starter Tomás Chávez pitched a strong game against the Boston Revolution at Battle Field, leading the Ravens to victory, 5-4. In 8 innings, Chávez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 4 runs. Noriyuki Nan picked up the save for Richmond, his 9th of the year.
Félix Martínez went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Richmond. The 32-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Lonnie Reynolds. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Chávez told the Richmond Today.
Richmond has now won 3 straight, while the Revolution have lost 3 in a row.
