Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Stanley Bates, the Boston Revolution lost to the Reading Railbirds, 5-2. Bates went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The win elevated the Railbirds to 27-11.

The Railbirds got a big at-bat from second baseman Harvey Gregg. For the game, Gregg was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Reading a 2-1 lead.

"It feels good to get this one," Gregg told the Reading Citizen.
