Aces Earn 1-0 Win Versus Storm
|
In a tight affair between the Atlantic City Aces and the West Island Storm, pitcher Alberto Arroyo was in the zone. The Atlantic City right-hander helped his team win the game, 1-0. Paco Cruz, now 1-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The triumph makes Atlantic City 8-31.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Rafael Rodríguez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing West Island pitcher Tad Hughes, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Atlantic City on top, 1-0.
"The old adage is true," said Rodríguez. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
