Ice Pirates Get 7-5 Win Versus Crab Apple Cove
The Glacier Bay Ice Pirates beat the Crab Apple Cove Mashers, 7-5, at Liquor Luge. The win was due in part to third baseman Gordon Smith, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Dave Kennedy picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Tommy Williams suffered the loss. Jonathan Bower wrapped it up, recording his 5th save.

Jorge Magana, who finished 3rd in the FR in triples with 9 last year, took Crab Apple Cove hurler Tommy Williams deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Ice Pirates on top, 7-5. In all, Magana had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Smith told the Glacier Bay Herald. "It's as simple as that."
