Keg Creek and Richmond duked it out and the Coyotes came out victorious.
The Keg Creek Coyotes picked up a win at Coyote Den Stadium, taking down the Richmond Ravens, 4-1. Starting pitcher Riku Mainila was a big reason why. Mainila yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0.
Paul Davis had a big 2-run double for the Coyotes in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Keg Creek leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from fan favorite John Matthews and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Coyotes ahead, 4-0.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Davis, "one at-bat at a time."
The loss lowers the Richmond record to 2-1.
