The West Island Storm had to overcome a good performance from Orlando pitcher Chris Clark to claim a 3-2 win at Krono Field. Clark went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Horacio Méndez earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Tad Hughes finished to wrap up his 8th save.
There were several reasons the Storm beat the Rum Runners, but one factor was Gilberto Amador. In the top of the eighth, the West Island left fielder came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 3-2 lead.
Orlando manager Brett Jackson said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
West Island is now 22-21, Orlando 30-14.
