The Newark Falcons defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 8-3, at Falcons Field. Newark was led by slugging right fielder Jerry Carter, who went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The Falcons improved their record to 24-21 by beating Vermont.

A key moment came with no one out in the bottom of the first. That's when Carter hit a sinker from Joe Charles for a run-scoring single, putting Newark up, 1-0.

"We've been playing some good baseball," Carter told the Newark Daily. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
