San Jose pitcher Ken Poole did his part in helping his team defeat the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. The winner was Poole. He threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Salvador García. Carlos Guzmán earned the save for San Jose, his 9th of the year.

In the top of the fifth, Bill Duhon delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the San Jose center fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Cuervo in front, 5-2.
