Death Valley Burn starter Roberto Nevárez was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Iowa Crop Circles, 3-2. John Gates earned the save for Death Valley, his 10th of the year. With the win, the Burn hiked their record to 25-23.

Rick Garland dealt the Crop Circles a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Death Valley leading 1-0, Garland, who is tied for 8th in the FR in triples with 3, hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single.

In postgame comments, Nevárez told the Death Valley Daily News: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
