Mashers Top Ice Pirates in Extras, 4-2
|
The Crab Apple Cove Mashers topped the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates, 4-2, in Frontier action at Vargas Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Crab Apple Cove pitcher Kevin Underwood. Ernesto Moreno, now 4-5, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. The Ice Pirates, now 17-31, have lost 5 in a row.
Crab Apple Cove won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Dan Rocha on the mound for Glacier Bay, third baseman Wayne Porter hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Mashers fans to their feet.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Crab Apple Cove manager Jared Margolies.
