Cuervo Suffer 6-4 Setback
|
The Bearers grabbed a win, 6-4, at Welsh Field, overcoming a fine effort from San Jose pitcher Stephen Padilla. Padilla went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. The winner in relief was Roberto Delgado. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. St. Paul now has a record of 26-22 with the win.
St. Paul used the timely hitting of Gary Escamilla to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bearers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Escamilla.
