Newark Absorbs 5-2 Loss to Amarillo
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Amarillo Chicken Haulers and Newark Falcons.
Peter Norman did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Newark Falcons from being beaten, 5-2, to the Amarillo Chicken Haulers at The Chicken Coop. Norman went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. With the win, Amarillo is 2-4.
Lee Jones had a big 2-run double for the Chicken Haulers in the bottom of the first inning. With Amarillo leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Francisco Chapa, the 10th overall pick in the 2070 draft, and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chicken Haulers ahead, 3-0.
Jones attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
