Border Jumpers Drop Jail Break, 5-3, with Late Score
|
The Laredo Border Jumpers downed the Alcatraz Island Jail Break, 5-3. The hitting star was right fielder Dave Hall. Hall went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Border Jumpers. Peyton Jones, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. Arturo Baca recorded the save, his 3rd.
Hall had a timely hit for Laredo in the bottom of the eighth. With Alcatraz Island trailing 3-2, he turned a 2-2 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Laredo.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Laredo manager Dave Galindo. "It's usually not just one thing."
At 25-27, the Border Jumpers find themselves in 4th place in the Frontier Southern.
