The St. Paul Bearers rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Jeff Greenwood to a win, beating the Laredo Border Jumpers, 4-2, at BackWet Stadium. The winning pitcher was Greenwood, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Jermaine Bennett picked up his 16th save of the season.
The Bearers got a big at-bat from catcher Robbie Colón. For the game, Colón went 2-5 with 2 doubles. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave St. Paul a 3-2 lead.
St. Paul manager said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
St. Paul goes to 28-26, Laredo to 23-30.
