Philadelphia Blanks Border Jumpers, Paredes Wins
|
In a seemingly effortless performance, José Paredes of the Philadelphia Cheesesteaks shot down the Laredo Border Jumpers 6-0 on a 1-hit shutout.
"José was just locating so well and using his pitches," Philadelphia manager Joey Santangelo said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Paredes recorded 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Laredo manager Dave Galindo said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
Checking out his stats for the year, Paredes has racked up 2 wins and no losses in 7 starts, posted a 3.35 ERA, and struck out 42 batters in 48.1 innings.
