Militia Topple Coyotes, 5-3
|
The Michigan Militia topped the Keg Creek Coyotes, 5-3, in Appalachian action at Assembly Line Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Michigan pitcher and Shelbyville, Tennessee, native John Johns. Lane Davis was credited with the save for Michigan, his 7th of the season. Michigan now sits at 26-28, while Keg Creek falls to 26-29.
Barney Nelson, who is tied for 10th in the AP in home runs with 11, aided the Michigan cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Nelson told the Michigan Herald.
