Monuments Pick Up 10-1 Win Against Keg Creek
|
The Washington Monuments beat the Keg Creek Coyotes, 10-1, at The Grand Lodge. The win was due in part to first baseman Joe Williams, who was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Chris Wood. He tossed 96 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Washington, at 32-23, is 3½ games up in the Appalachian Coastal.
With Washington leading 6-0 in the bottom of the third, Williams came up to bat against Keg Creek pitcher Hsin-pei Gui. Williams hit a screwball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Monuments on top, 9-0.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Williams.
