The West Island Storm got a stellar effort from pitcher Gary Johnson, helping West Island score a win over the visiting Newark Falcons, 2-1. With the win, West Island pushed its record to 33-23.

West Island took a 2-1 lead on Kuei-lin Chia's 8th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Newark pitcher Juan Vargas in the bottom of the seventh.

"I felt we were ready to go," said West Island manager . "Our pregame was pretty good."
