Ice Pirates Upend Jail Break, 5-4
|
Fans watched the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates and the Alcatraz Island Jail Break fight to the finish.
The Alcatraz Island Jail Break got a superb performance from center fielder Scot Potter, but the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates still won the game, 5-4. Potter went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Glacier Bay reliever Steve Kerracher picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Martin Walker shouldered the loss.
Robin Rollins, the 26-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Rollins contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Glacier Bay up, 5-4.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Rollins told the Glacier Bay Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The loss puts Alcatraz Island at 5-2.
