The Honolulu High Tide faced a tough opponent in Washington pitcher Terry Pinnell, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Champagne of Beers Field by a final score of 2-1. Pinnell went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win went to Jesús Rivera in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Terry Pinnell took the loss. Edgar Arroyo earned his 5th save, after closing out the game.
The High Tide got a big at-bat from first baseman John Wilkins. For the game, Wilkins was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Honolulu a 2-1 lead.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Honolulu skipper Mark Sambor.
Honolulu now has a record of 36-21 with the win.
