Mashers Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Crab Apple Cove Mashers and the Richmond Ravens, former first round draft pick Elvin Lawson proved to be the difference. The Crab Apple Cove left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Mashers win. The winner was Lawson. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Jesse Parker. Jeff Poe closed out the game, earning his 11th save.
Crab Apple Cove took a 2-1 lead on Gonzalo Pimentel's 11th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Pimentel hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Richmond pitcher Jesse Parker visibly frustrated.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Pimentel said.
The win makes Crab Apple Cove 30-32.
