Cheesesteaks Prevail, 4-2, Over Newark
|
The Philadelphia Cheesesteaks topped the Newark Falcons by the score of 4-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to center fielder Steve Baker. Baker was 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI for the Cheesesteaks on the day. The winning pitcher was Luis Santiago Jr.. He tossed 108 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. At 28-34, the Cheesesteaks are currently last in the Frontier Northern.
Had Jesús Reynad not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Reynad hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cheesesteaks.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Baker, "and then get after it again."
